Concord, CA (March 23, 2025) – I started the Pulse of Concord 15 years ago to open discussions about various local topics that were not really examined.
Here you will find a short summary of June 2010 with around 400 answers and some views between 92% inhabitants and 8% non -registrations.
- More than half of the people like the idea of a 7-foot base for backyard fences compared to a 6-foot base and 20%. Both would have approved a 1-foot trestle (transparent grid). The city has not changed its 6-foot base. In my neighborhood, people stack a foot and rock foot and then put the 6-foot fence on it to get some privacy.
- The idea of increasing sales tax by 0.5% was polarized: almost 48% did not agree (38% strong), 40% agreed (23% strong) and 12% neutral. The city then passed two sentences of 0.5% sales tax that saved the city budget and made it possible for the street repair, etc.
- Almost two thirds agree that the police should appeal to employers, pick up the street workers to force them to the hiring halls. Another 22% do not agree and 11% are neutral. The city has never taken measures and I doubt that it would be supported today.
- Around 95% agree that the city council should have a main residence in which it should spend 200 days/nights in the city. About 3% were neutral. At that time there was a council member who was accused of living in Sacramento. The city installed this in 2018 with the introduction of districts.
- The city should sell advertising by 55% to 21% with a large neutral group. While we had a small series of banners/flags in the city center to support the summer concerts, there were no efforts in relation to private parking spaces in the park n shop etc., which were allowed to have similar banner/flags with a fee for the city.
- Only about 8% agree that the city council represents its views. This was one of the reasons why I ran for the office for the office in 2010 (and lost again in 2012). I think that the number is now much higher after over a decade of emphasizing public relations.
- The supply tax was more unpopular than sales tax. The incorrect group pressed 60%, 28% approved and 12% neutral. The city council is looking at this and you may want to ask this idea.
- Graffiti regulated people's nerves to the extent that more than 50% believe that it worsened, even though 30% are neutral. In the past 15 years, the anti-graffiti squad has done a wonderful job in eliminating vandalism. There was an advance to increase the financing in 2012 for this squad, and the Concord Connect app helped a lot to report and remove this shameful plague of spray paint.
- The outsourcing of government functions such as apartment investigations and parking spaces is not a popular problem, although 48% do not agree (30% votes badly) and 19% neutral. The council often falls back on this and it is checked again whether we went too far and whether it is inexpensive after 15 years of growth.
- The interaction of the police in the past six months was also strange. More than 40% had a personal interaction with the Concord police. Here I found the only real difference between residents and non -applications. If they were a non -resident inland, they were twice as likely (22% to 11%) to get an unsatisfactory reaction. Perhaps the speed of tickets could take into account. About 60+% of them had a good feeling of everything they did with the bulls and 11% negative. Today Concord has a high positive view of his police. You worked on it with the community and we can be proud of the performance.
So, you have a look at the distant past.
A new survey is pending and I will revise the website and will soon accept E -Mail information. To be added to the list, send the e -mail you want to edibirsan@gmail.com.
