High Level talks between the border protection Bangladesh (BGB) and the Indian border security forces (BSF) ended on Friday. According to the Indian Ministry, both sides have identified against both sides against almost 100 fresh areas that are preserved.
These new areas are added to the ongoing fan work between the two countries, says Telegraph India.
The two sides have also agreed to establish a line of communication between the commanders of the border guards in order to “promote the spirit of trust and warm relationships”, while the border tension between India and Bangladesh.
Recently there has been flare up when the BGB tried to hinder the construction of a fence along the border in Malda.
The 4.096 km Indo-Bangla border, which runs through Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram, remained a long-standing source of dispute over barbed wire fences and border management.
“During the three -day talks that were completed on Thursday, both sides achieved a consensus to build fences along almost 100 fresh border sections, apart from the fact that the ongoing fences initiated by India were continued,” said an official.
The neighbors, he said, also agreed to establish a line of communication between the deputy commanders of the BSF and the BGB “to improve warm relationships and maintain peace and calm at the border”.
The three -day bilateral conversations were the first between the two borders after the fall of the government of Sheikh Hasina in August last year.
“The bosses of the two armed forces also agreed to further strengthen the common patrol and to improve the vigil at night in order to run cross -border crimes,” said the official.
Sources said that 864.48 km of the border did not remain inadequate, including 174.51 km “non -feasible” gaps that include river sections.
The new communication channel will be set up between the additional general director (ADG) of the Eastern Command of the BSF in Kalkutta and its BGB counterpart in Dhaka, according to the sources.
Now there are “Hotlines” between the chiefs of the two armed forces and the officers of the ranks of the General Inspector of the BSF (regional commander for the BGB) and the deputy general inspector (sector commander for the BGB).
The communication lines are used to convey real -time information and intelligence in such a way that problems in connection with the border and cases of cross -border crimes can be checked immediately.
According to the sources, the fences of the new 100 patches, which cover around 70-72 km, would begin after a joint inspection of the two sides. The fences with 92 other routes with 95.8 km are underway.
Bangladesh has long criticized the Indian fence and argues that this is a violation of the common India-Bangladesh guidelines of 1975 for border authorities, under which no defense structures are built within 150 meters from the zero line of the international border can. India claims that its single fence along the border is not a “defense structure”.
