Haute Living: Can you lead us through the concept for the new Manolo Blahnik shop in Miami?

Kristina Blahnik: My uncle Manolo's passion for the Art -deco movement and Joseph Hoffman were both great inspiration for the monochromatic black and white design of the business. Bridget Reilly, another of Manolo's favorite artists, triggered the idea of the fantastic circular pattern on the facade. This place will be creative and dynamic and reflect the Miami Design District.

HL: How do you find the balance between maintaining the legacy of the brand and the modern when building new retail goals?

KB: Similar to Manolo designs his collections, we do not follow the trends and remain true to our roots. Manolo's passion for art and culture can be seen in our boutiques worldwide, and we were happy to convey this in the context of Miami.

HL: What is your relationship with the city of Miami? What are some of your favorite cultural aspects from Miami?

KB: I visited Miami for the first time in 2014 and fell in love with the city's liveliness. It is such a hub for art, creativity and culture. We always introduced ourselves to the brand in Südflorida and can hardly wait to create our community here.

HL: In your view, the modern Manolo woman is? And the modern Manolo man?

KB: The modern Manolo woman and the man avoid trends in favor of a strong personal style, timelessness and creativity. There are so many incredible women and men who have worn and inspired both Manolo Blahnik Styles over the years!

HL: What are your favorite shoe styles of all time?

KB: My favorite shoe forever is the Maysale. Manolo designed her in 1990 for Isaac Mizraahi and she is timeless. It is the one that I grab the most in every color – lately the striking new pink, which is exclusively for the Miami Boutique! I also love Jadaron in Blue, which was designed for Miami as a perfect beach club for dinner.
