If we approach the start of the new NFL league year, we have already seen several trades and some Denver Broncos The fans could get the idea that the team should do the same. The question also arises whether the Broncos should be aggressive in the free agency because they have a cost -controlled contract.
But would it make sense that the Broncos go “all in” in this low season? It may look like this on the surface, but you have to look at the landscape when it comes to the potential free agent field this year and in the future the capital design that the Broncos currently have, and the decisions that you have to make with players on the current squad on the way to capital development.
Or in other words to look at the long -term long -term long -term as at short notice.
The first thing you should consider is that the Broncos, along with holes on the squad, have some players who are entitled to extensions. We spoke about the end of the defense Zach Allen, the Rush linacker Nik Bonitto and the Wide Receiver Courtland Sutton.
With everyone he is a player who gave the Broncos and is one of the best players in his position. The Broncos moved in Bonitto and it is a good idea to expand the players they developed. Sutton is said to have a good influence in the changing room, and GM George Paton stated to talk to Sutons Agent about a possible expansion.
All three players receive significant increases through their current salaries. This means that the Broncos have to commit resources there, so that it may not be so much available to oblige potential unrestricted free agents.
In addition, the Free agent field 2025 is not a good overall group. Offensive Tackle has some high -quality players, but the Broncos have their starter. There are some talents among central defenders and linebackers, but it is better for the Broncos to choose one of these two to set priorities and then pursue a top name while looking for value elsewhere.
However, compare this to the potential free agent field 2026. While we have a long way to go to us before we get to this point, there are many players who have entered the last years of their contracts.

There are 2022 picks in the first round that will lose their options in the fifth year, while others will sign again with their current teams, but there will be many players who will probably come to the open market.
A typical example: The return of 2025 Free Agent is listed by Aaron Jones, Najee Harris and JK Dobbins, but the 2026 field could possibly have Kyren Williams, Breece Hall, James Cook, Brian Robinson Jr., Kenneth Walker III and Travis Etienne. Some of the backs in the latter group are likely to meet free agency in 2026 and could be better options.
The next thing that has to be taken into account is the design of the capital. The Broncos currently have seven picks in the NFL design and the choice in the second half of the design.
Denver also went without a choice in the first round in 2022 and 2023 and had no second round in 2024. This is the first time in 2021 that the Broncos will have a selection in the first three rounds.
Finding more young players at cost tax -controlled contracts remains important because the Broncos expand current players or add freely agents elsewhere. And because the Broncos only have seven picks, they don't have as much capital with which they can work. Trading is an option, but there is no guarantee that a trade down will take place.
If we now talk about players on day 3, this would be worth exploration. But the broncos have to be careful if they send previous tips for players who are talented, but are not necessarily players who increase the crime or add the type of playmaker to add.
After all, it is important to remember that the Bronco's players will have players whose business run in the future seasons and have to be replaced at some point. This in turn means that the capital is designed to replenish these areas.
Together with all, the defensive linemen John Franklin-myers and Malcolm Roach expired in 2025, which means that the broncos have to add central defenders. Alex Singletons Deal also runs after 2025, so that a line backer could be searched for. Luke Weittenberg is also in his business in the last year and the Broncos have to determine What to do in the middle.
Then there are players who entered the last years of their deals in 2026, such as Widout Marvin Mims Jr., Ben Powers, Cornerback Riley Moss, Linebacker Drew Sanders and Safety Brandon Jones. The Broncos could choose the expansion of some of these players in 2026, but not all of them will be. For those who are not expanded, a replacement is required.
All of this means that the Broncos have to keep an eye on the long -term picture and at short notice. The contract of nothing is a good strategy, but it is not necessary for the Broncos to be large spending in 2025 free agency or make a big trade with great swing.
The Broncos can do just as much, if not even more by expanding their own, keeping their early draft picks, finding immediate contributors and now looking for value in the free agency, but next year with large free agencies.
It cannot lead to immediate satisfaction for Broncos fans, but it could lead to a better roster about nothing and maximize the team's chances of returning to the playoffs and possibly fighting the Super Bowl.
