A man was arrested after jumping over two fences in Lincoln with meth in his pocket, police said

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A central Nebraska man accused of fleeing police with nearly half a pound of methamphetamine appeared in Lancaster District Court Thursday.

On Wednesday, investigators with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force were in the area of ​​27th and O streets when they observed an orange Dodge Caliber believed to be driven by 48-year-old Aaron Burkholder of Kearney. Burkholder then got out of the vehicle and went into a house.

Court documents show that Burkholder was on probation in the United States and had an active arrest warrant for violating his probation.

Investigators attempted to contact Burkholder as he left the home, but he ran away and a chase began.

According to investigators, Burkholder ran through the backyard of a residential area and jumped over two fences. He was arrested shortly after the pursuit began.

Investigators searched Burkholder and found a plastic bag containing 196.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a scale in a black zipper bag, according to documents. They also found cash on him.

Burkholder reportedly complained of injuries sustained while jumping over a fence and was transported by ambulance to Bryan West. He was medically cleared and lodged in the Lancaster County Jail.

On Thursday, Burkholder was arraigned and charged with possession of more than 140 grams of methamphetamine, possession of money in violation of 28-416 and no drug tax stamp. A judge set his bond at 10% of $500,000.

He is scheduled to return to court for a hearing on January 14, 2025.
