Evergreen projectIn cooperation with the city of Detroit, The Gilbert Family Foundation and the Community Foundation for Southeast -Michigancompleted the transformative revitalization of the Milan Park in Detroit's quarter of Evergreen-Outter Drive. The official ribbon cut took place on April 3.

The newly defined park near Ralph W. Emerson Elementary-Middle School has been a meeting room for decades. Thanks to the efforts, the Milan Park offers a safe, accessible and environmentally friendly space for residents of all ages.

The most important improvements include:

  • 60 newly planted or re -spoiled trees
  • A second playground and renovated natural grass football field
  • New combination football/soccer goals and a new softball field
  • Improved sidewalks, fitness equipment, picnic tables and grill grills
  • A new park input on the Evergreen Road
  • Label painting by the local artist Miranda Kyle

“The transformation of Miland Park is proof of what happens when municipalities, non -profit organizations and local government come together,” said Cindy Code, Managing Director of Project Evergreen. “This room is now a blooming green hub in which the residents can combine, play and breathe clean air.”

The lawn and the trees of the park are expected to follow more than £ 351,000 carbon and generate more than 530,000 cubic meters of clean air, with the environmental equivalent to remove 45 cars from the road every year.

The revitalization efforts of 750,000 US dollars included an investment of $ 450,000 from the city of Detroit and 300,000 US dollars in contributions from the Gilbert Family Foundation and the Community Foundation for Southeast -Michigan. The construction was carried out by Premiere Group Associates with the support of von Davey TreeResume, Advanced lawn solutions And the green of Detroit.

The creative spirit of the neighborhood shows itself in three sidewalks.

“The investment of City of Detroit in this beautiful park shows our commitment to providing current and safe outdoor areas,” said Crystal Perkins, director of the General Services department. “We are proud to offer a park that the entire community can enjoy.”
