In order to further strengthen his successful special order padding, Universal Furniture reported that it will be shifting his business activities from Conover to Hildebran with an expected transition date in December 2025.
“This is an advantageous transition for us,” said Sean O'Connor, President of Universal Furniture. “We started upholstery in 2016 and opened the domestic shop in 2019. When we continue to grow, the Hildebran facility is an excellent home for the next phase of our business.”
One of the main advantages of the move is that Universal can pass on a 56-hectare property from a rented room in Conover to a facility in the possession of Samson marketing.
“It enables us to control the building, its maintenance and all future extensions,” said O'Connor.
The other main advantage of the move is to improve efficiency. While the production of the Conover location between two floors has been divided, the new system enables the upholstery operation of Universal on one level, which gives the manufacturing process a more efficient production current and better uses the available space.
All current employees from the Conover facility will continue to be employed in the Hildebran facility. And all machines are moved to the new system with a newly purchased fabric cutting machine and an additional new router to expand framework production. Universal will end his lease in Conover in February 2026.
