One of the greatest challenges of the transformation was to accommodate some of the quirks of the original Haussmannian design and at the same time make the apartment up to date and efficient. The installation was on one side of the device and required some creative thoughts to integrate new installations without affecting the aesthetics of the room. The project used the existing circulation of the living areas and removed certain elements to highlight the visual depth of the adjacent rooms. Open shelves that were integrated into the entrance contributed this impression of spaciousness and give a modern note.
In order to create a room that takes a break with the traditional design of many apartments in Paris, the agency decided to introduce pop elements of the 1970s, including orange accents that underline every room. Rounded elements in contrast to the rigid lines of the design of the Hausmann era, while the color orange appears in the apartment, including the half-moon handles in the kitchen, in the kitchen, in the entrance and in the bedroom. All were designed by Bonnemazou-Cambus and are painted in a lively mandarin color. The rounded form can also be found in other elements of the apartment: quarter circle bearing units, the crescent marble plate in the kitchen and the curves of the bank in the breakfast area. These rounded, colorful accents introduce a refreshing dynamic and give the apartment with its own versatile personality, whereby the characteristic features of the home style (including molded parts, right angles and geometric parquet floor) are highlighted. This courageous approach creates a dialogue between the past and the present, between classic elegance and lively modernity. It is also a conversation between color and its absence, between straight lines and curves.
