Laguna Beach Unified School District (LBusD) shows a strong commitment to sustainability, health and environmental literacy through initiatives that promote protection, well -being and education. The district aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 by implementing projects for renewable energies, wallpaper programs and water protection efforts. In order to support these goals, LBBUSD updates its 10-year master plan (10-year facility master plan) in order to adapt to the EMP projects (energy management plans) and create a structured framework for securing funds and the implementation of energy improvements. The district promotes health and well-being by maintaining pesticide-free, organic landscape design and improvement of air quality non-toxic cleaning of inner air, HEPA cleaners with high efficiency particle climacy (UV-filtered heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems (HVAC). Students and employees benefit from meals from the region, garden competence programs and a natural therapy framework that integrates outdoor experiences in social-emotional learning. LBUSD develops high-quality environmental competence for the students through professional development of educators, determined, environmentally focused interdisciplinary units, practical experience and innovative programs such as fire brigade, land, ocean and water integration initiative and the Poseidon rainwater project. Strategic improvements, including outdoor science, inspire critical thinking and promoting sensible connections to local ecosystems. Through these integrated efforts, LBUSD creates an educational environment that looks to the students the knowledge and skills that are necessary to manage environmental challenges and sustainable life.
