The German Festival of Tulsa returned this weekend and brought the sights, noises and the taste of Europe to the green country. The annual festival is organized by the German American Society of Tulsa and underlines the rich German legacy of the region through traditional food, music and dancing.
The family-friendly event takes place near the 15th and Lewis and offers live performances, cultural games and authentic German courts. Many of the recipes come from Erica Hartman, the oldest member of the company, which continues to commit their cultural roots.
“My culture. It is something that I am proud of. I'm really American than I Austrian or German, but I keep the culture high,” said Hartman during the event.
The German festival ends on Sunday and runs free of charge from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and accessible to the public.
