Indianapolis – Carmel Gateway, Central Indiana's largest suburban park, will be subjected to a big change outdoors this spring. The aim is to create a more inviting, natural environment.
Under the direction of Koplete Landscape contractor and designer Jason Fiddler, the project uses advanced 3D modeling to transform areas into green spaces.
Fiddler, who passed from a career in the music industry to landscape design, conveys a creative, technical approach for the efforts.
“This project was about solving a problem,” said Fiddler. “The room was not appealing and the customer needed something to check the highway and feel inviting.”
His team uses digital tools to visualize the final design before starting a construction so that it is easier to align yourself with Carmel Gateway's vision.
“We used 3D modeling to show the customer what the room would look like before something was built, and they were able to go through them virtually and share it with investors,” said Fiddler.
One of the highlights of the project is an installation in the terrarium style, which will serve as a natural barrier between the office park and a nearby highway.
Additional work is planned for the East and West lawn, where local plants, paths and shadowed meeting areas encourage employees to step outside and to deal with the room.
“We are planning large additions, including East and West Lawn Outdoor – from the outdoor amphitheater to a recessed parking space that was filmed for games, food trucks and events for green areas,” said Property Manager Patrick Moyers.
The landscaping upgrades are part of a greater advance to reinterpret the office campus for the post-pandemic era.
These improvements support broader efforts of the guidance of Carmel Gateway to withdraw remote workers on site by offering experiences that go beyond the traditional office.
