“I wanted to leave her so much”

"I wanted to leave her so much"

Since the efforts to remove invasive types and make space for local plants continue, it is not always easy, especially if the invaders are deceptively beautiful.

The house gardener Cara (@plants_n_rants) recently shared a Tikkok video, which shows that the side of her farm was created by beautiful purple wildflowers. Unfortunately, she identified her as a lady's rocket, an invasive way that is known to spread quickly and escape native plants. “This beautiful wild flower is actually invasive,” she said in the directives of the video.

Despite her sadness to remove these beautiful flowers, Cara had to pull the plants before sowing – a crucial step to prevent her return next year. Although she hesitated to remove such pretty flowers, she saved a few for vases so that she could only enjoy her a little longer.

Cara said in a comment: “I wanted to leave her so badly, but I try to bring my farm to a zone for local plants.”

In the video, Cara emphasizes the importance of proper disposal and reminds the other gardeners not to compost invasive plants, but to throw them into the trash to prevent further spread.

Removing invasive species is crucial because they disrupt local ecosystems, express local plants and reduce the biological diversity. Local plants, on the other hand, support a healthier environment by offering pollinators such as bees, butterflies and birds, which are all important actors for the protection of our food supply, essential foods and habitats.

Replacing traditional lawns with environmentally friendly alternatives such as indigenous plants, clover, buffalo grass and methods such as xeriscaping can significantly reduce water consumption, eliminate the need for harmful pesticides and lower maintenance requirements.

These sustainable landscapes are more resistant to local climate conditions and promote soil health. Even partially the replacement of a conventional lawn with locals or low -maintenance options can have a major influence and help to restore ecological balance and support wild animals.

Native plant gardens are no longer beneficial for wild animals.

A commentator praised the video as a “beautiful and informative contribution”, while another agreed: “Thank you for pulling it!”

The answers show how small, thoughtful actions in our own courtyards can inspire and educate others about the importance of protecting local ecosystems.
