Text description provided by the architects. Fernanda Neiva, Fernanda Palmieri and Paula Zasnicoff were trained as architects at the FAU -USP (School of Architecture and Urbanism – University of Sao Paulo), developed their final thesis and shared the initial phases of their professional career. Life led her to different situations and places in Brasil and on various continents. In 2019, the lifelong friendship between these architects and your customer created the opportunity for a reunion and a collaborative project. The architects came together on a holiday weekend to design the project, which was then developed by Galeria Arquitetos under the coordination and supervision of Fernanda Neiva.

The design of this house called “Casa Renda” examines the integration of interior and outdoor spaces through floor to ceiling windows, the perforated facade elements, the continuity of the materials and the relationship between the different rooms to the central garden. The spatial arrangement integrates the living areas with the open kitchen, veranda and the garden. While rooms such as bedrooms and supply areas are arranged peripherally to ensure privacy. From the garden in the middle it is possible to access the roof terrace, which makes the sunny roof level optimal.

Concrete is the prevailing material of the project, which is present from the facade in the exposed structure, in the handmade cement floor tiles, in the kitchen worktops and in the prefabricated panels. The design of the facade is based on the patterns that are contained in traditional Brazilian handmade tips and represents one of the main features of the house, with the road presenting a woven facade. Casa Renda translates as “the top house”.
