Syensqo cuts the tape in its largest microbiological laboratory worldwide

Syensqo has inaugurated its largest microbiological laboratory worldwide, which should enable a thrust of the biological degradation test capacity by ten times the number of tested samples compared to 2021.

The leading provider in advanced materials and special chemicals New 550 m2 laboratory system in Lyon, France, will use the latest microbiology (eco) toxicology and biotechnology to accelerate the development of environmentally friendly and safe personal care products.

The aim is to improve the biological degradation and (eco-) toxicology test capabilities of Syensqo from the early stages of product development with its renewable materials and its biotechnological growth platform.

The facility will work closely with the other laboratories of the company around the world to “significantly strengthen Syensqo's ability to react to customer needs by improving the efficiency of the tests and marking the time,” says a statement by the company.

The laboratory is equipped with advanced functions and machine learning that support the development of biodegradable solutions, especially in the markets of beauty, domestic care, agrochemical, adhesives and materials.

The construction of the laboratory contained sustainability initiatives, which led to a decrease in net electricity consumption by 35% and a reduction in CO2 emissions by 36%.

By organizing the accreditation of the GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), which is expected in the second half of the year, the Labor from Syensqo will also support product registration.

The laboratory with its specialist knowledge to evaluate the biological degradability of difficult to assess is also available to support customers and partners with a service model.
