Worktops form a large part of their kitchen – they are the only surface and they are wrapping around their entire scheme. The selection of the right color, materials and style is crucial for the appearance and functionality of your kitchen.
And as with every design decision, it is also worth knowing what is not to be done – which kitchen worktop colors and materials are no longer in style for 2025? We asked designers and kitchen experts who are the outdated kitchen worktops trends, and especially which tones and textures should avoid a kitchen redesign next year?
5 kitchen worktop materials that are not in style for 2025
Regardless of whether you are super -durable or you appreciate sustainably manufactured designs, these are the kitchen worktops that say that the designers fall out of style and which worktop trends, styles and materials you should consider for a timeless and personal space.

When we talk about jobs about the jobs that don't just talk about aesthetics. In this case, quartz worktops fell out of favor because they can generate harmful silica dust during the production.
'Artificial quartz worktops finally get the pile in favor of natural marbles and quartzies with boldness and color. While consumers have long preferred quartz for its uniformity and stain -resistant properties, it has recently had a problematic press for the adverse health effects that have suffered from the workers who have cut the material, ”says interior designer Bethany Adams.
'The reality is that natural quartzite is impermeable to both heat and stains if it is properly sealed. Customers also finally understand that life with marble means no maintenance -like lifestyle. Living with marble means accepting the imperfections that are inherent in a beautiful, natural material and enable it to develop the beautiful patina of age that is literally invaluable. '
2. Corian

For many designers and homeowners, sustainability is a big factor in choosing the right worktops for their room. So if you want a more planet -friendly option that still looks good and holds well, certain materials must be avoided.
“Materials like Corian fall in favor of sustainability problems and also because they do not stop for warmth and scratches,” explains Fiona Ginnett, co-founder of Hølte Studio.
“If you are looking for a more environmentally conscious alternative to personality, Durat is a great option sie is made with a high percentage of recycled plastic and is available in some really interesting colors.”
3. Wood

This year, wooden kitchen cabinets have a resuscitation and bring tactile quality and a warm finish in kitchens of all size and style. However, since they continue to prove to be popular, worktops in the same material lose their attraction.
'Wood is still very enjoying a revival in kitchen cupboards. Its natural grain and warm tones bring an grounding, tactile quality that connects us again with nature – something that people are currently really longing in their houses. 'Fred Horlock, design director at Neptune.
“Since wood is increasingly selected for cupboards and furniture, we see a decline in the wooden panels, since people prefer to make a contrast to more durable, low-maintenance surfaces-especially those that supplement the warmth of the wood without demanding maintenance.”
Instead, people approach worktops who complement their wooden cupboards, such as a light porcelain that looks like marble, or even dark worktops for a more atmospheric, more industrial feeling.
4. Delicate stones

Of course, natural stone worktops will never really be out of style, but the selection of aesthetics about the practicality is not equipped for 2025. Stein can be a bad choice in a busy family kitchen. If you are not ready and willing to keep up with the maintenance, you will look damaged and look unuseless.
“Avoid with high care, sensitive materials especially in high-fiction. Kitchens are a busy place, and the worktop really takes more than any other part of it. Do not make the mistake of choosing the wrong material,” says Jonathan Stanley from Caesarstone.
“While Naturstone still has its place, customers are increasingly prioritizing the function as well as form. Materials that often maintain or have signs of wear too quickly, of course less desirable.” Adds the interior designer Tola Ojuolape, which recommend that you either choose an artificial alternative with the appearance of natural stone or to make a braver look with a little more colorful.
'Color now plays a larger role in the kitchen and a well -selected worktop can really anchor the room. If the budget allows it, I often recommend pyrolave- a glazed volcanic lava stone. It is incredibly durable and receives a rich range of custom colors and surfaces. It is also beautifully suitable for tailor -made details, which makes it ideal for tailor -made design schemes. '
5. Flat, simple worktops

It is not just the materials you have to think about, but what they look like in their scheme. People are interested in unique, characteristic designs, so that worktops that lack interest and personality feel very much out of fashion.
“We also move from flat, simple worktops,” notes Fred. Especially in rooms in which you have chosen a scheme filled with neutral tones from the back
'In 2025, the trend towards surfaces is with more depth and texture – gentle paths, natural movement or sanded surfaces. Stones such as quartzite and granite are increasing more and more because they combine a unique character with permanent durability and offer the perfect balance between style and internship. '
The worktops that are best suited for your kitchen depend on how to use your space. Natural stone is timeless and beautiful, but if you need something more permanent, there are many marble worktop alternatives that feel just as luxurious. And if you want to make sure that your room feels more on trend than outdated, choose a kitchen worktop that never gets out of fashion.
