Are you planning a bathroom update? Do not make these common tile errors

The choice of tiles for your bathroom (or anywhere in your home!) Can be a challenge and be quite overwhelming. There are so many things to consider: Use the same tile on your walls and soil? What is the right scale? Should you choose colorful tiles or go classic black and white or marble? What about shape and pattern? So many options! In order to narrow it down and lead your decision -making process, we spoke to Lane Hering, Product Design Director at Zia Tile.

Underbest them

Since handmade and natural stone tiles often have different veins, pits and tones, Hering says that they should order 15 to 20% more than they think they have enough to do the mixture correctly. Cement and ceramic tiles are more consistent, but herring still suggests buying an additional 15% to ensure that they are covered. It never hurts to have extras, if at some point one of them is damaged at some point!

You don't think creative

Most of us believe that the only way to make a statement with the tile itself exists. However, installation is another opportunity to create something cool and unique. An idea: Set the U -Bahn tiles vertically instead of horizontally, says Hering. “This gives the illusion of an additional size,” she explains. Alternatively, a fishing base design brings a nice surprise.

You won't be brave enough

If you repeat a smaller powder room, you should consider selecting strong tile colors. “An contained room is ideal for pop because it does not affect the overall design of the house,” she says. Choose a single strong color. If this is too scary, mix it with some subdued colors. The color and the pattern create an effective moment.
