A dialogue between historical structures and current architecture
The intervention of Monte Dos Judeeus is based on an existing structure that had fallen into ruin from which the original facade tiles had been carefully removed for later re -evaluation. For the road height, the strategy was to reconstruct the original facade and add an abstract volume, the cladding of corrugated sheets for this area is very characteristic. The collaborative team between creative practice António Besa Cruz Architects and Design studio José Carlos Cruz Arquitecto accepts a sober, contemporary language that respects the website's scale without relying on imitation. The selection of the materials, volumes and the treatment with the backwet reflects a sensitive reading of the context and a strong connection to the memory of the website.
