Roof plan in the Greenock Football Training Area one step closer

The former soccer players Craig Molloy and David Barron used the planning permit for a location on Kilmun Road for a training stand and a dog training area at the beginning of this year.

After approval of these plans in January, the duo received the green light in June to build a roof or a canopy over the football training area together with an office building, a warehouse tank and a border fence.

In an explanation with the original application, it was explained: “This custom-made facility would offer us a fantastic opportunity to close the gap with many other large cities and cities in Scotland that offer similar professional coaching sessions in certain arenas.

“The combination of our own experiences with ex-professional footballers with now qualified UEFA-licensed coaches offers us a skills that we think we would go to young people from Inclyde who dream of a day of professional football.

“Investing in a community in which we grew up, which offered only limited options as children, is an enormous driving force behind our proposal.

“We are passionate that our own children and others in Inclyde deserve to get the same opportunities as others in Scotland to surpass and be successful in life.”

“The creation of this facility would be a small step in the right direction to achieve this for many prospective young footballers in our city.”
