Data centers Multiply in Great Britain quickly and lead our digital future and our ambitions in the AI. Without stronger sustainability standards, experts warn that this growth for the environment could have serious costs.
The Eco Green Group, the British specialist for sustainable Green Building Solutions, calls on developers and political decision -makers to ensure that the rapid expansion of data centers does not start at the expense of the environment or the green belt by entering solutions such as organic roofs, blue roofs and living walls.
The deputy prime minister Angela Rayner recently faced legal challenges after a proposed data center in Buckinghamshire had not carried out any environmental impact assessment. The “Hyperscale” mather center is part of the broader ambition of Labor to establish Great Britain as a global AI leader, but the Eco Green Group warns that the United Kingdom writes away both green spaces and resources for energy-hungry infrastructures without sustainable design standards.
Build sustainability in data centers
With more than 70 new data centers, which are now planned throughout London and the counties, the overall demand for energy and water supply will significantly jump.
The Eco Green Group believes that this expansion can seamlessly integrate the green infrastructure into the planning phase. With biosolard roofs that generate renewable power supply, blue roofs for recycling rainwater and living walls and wildflowers to mitigate the heat and to improve biological diversity, new facilities can significantly compensate for their environmental impact and reduce running costs.
A call to the greener design
Keith Hills, founder of the Eco Green Group, commented: “AI may be the future, but we cannot afford to undermine our ecological resistance.
“By integrating technologies such as Blue roofs, organic solar stream and living walls into new data centers, we can reduce running costs and at the same time protect the environment.
“The economic case and the case of sustainability were made; we would ask the government to react to it.”
