Press release – Tennis Auckland
Tennis Auckland is enthusiastic about the current announcement of a contribution of $ 5 million by the New Zealand government to build a roof over the Manuka Doctor Arena Court in the city center of Auckland.
This investment follows earlier contributions of $ 2.13 million in grants, donations and expenses from Tennis Auckland itself towards the overall project of $ 15 million.
Tennis Auckland is confident that today's announcement together with other financing and donation options that are currently being negotiated will enable the organization to formally illuminate the project in the near future.
“We are absolutely enthusiastic about the New Zealand government's announcement. Our event has achieved a rough economic boost of 22.3 million US dollars this year,” said Rohan West, CEO of Tennis Auckland.
“The roof will not only mean an improved facility for the fans, but also to ensure the ASB classics for the future. We have hard work with financing and investment projects, and we are much closer to confirming the project.
“We are confident that in 2027 we will be able to celebrate the new roof in January 2028 in a covered Manuka Doctor Arena and then organize a variety of other events with the guarantee of a dry and sun -protected event location.”
