Who says Big can't be elegant and sophisticated?

Certainly not Sanlorenzo, which launched its first 74 streets from his shipyard in La Spezia. The new flagship of 243 feet is not just about Sanlorenzo's ability to always build heavy ships, but more about intelligent design. The Italian building contractor has used recent starts such as SL110A and SP92 with innovative design, but the 74steel with its angular, graded profile and vertical sheet looks more like a tailor -made yacht from a Northern European farm than the other vessels of the Sanlorenzo.

The designer Bernardo Zuccon uses the expression “machines à haos” or “machines for life in” to describe the new flagship. It is a concept that was made popular by the French architect Le Corbusier in 1927 and which was prescribed that houses such as efficient machines should be designed that concentrate on functionality and harmonious life, in which the needs of the owner are prioritized against unnecessary decorative flourish or architectural priority. As such, Zuccon is noticed, the 74steel is simple, elegant and useful. “This project is a decisive change in scaling in the floating architecture,” he says.

This comes through with several outstanding functions in the entire ship. One of the most obvious is the cover of the owner, which measures an impressive 3200 square meter inside and outside. The interior, itself 1,400 square meters, includes the lounge and office of the owner, two EN suites inspired by Spa with an independent bathtub in one and a King-Size bed with a view of the private forward terrace.

Then there is the beach club area in the rear, with a pool that serves as a blanket, the light on the light and a beautiful blue lights delivers into the room underneath. The wellness area includes a gym with a foldable platform, a massage room, a wooden sauna, a hammam diving pool and a family room. Back on the swimming platform, the bulwarks fold out to create a larger outer space.

Francesco Paszkowski's interior design in cooperation with Margherita Casprini contains furniture with strong curves, carpets with shapes that do not traditionally define the rooms. “The interiors are dominated by matt wooden surfaces and give the yacht a natural, refined feeling, while more versatile materials give the different rooms liveliness and uniqueness,” says Casprini. “At each bathroom at its own discretion, you have a different variety of marble with colors and textures that are transferred to the work of art on board.” The owner of the first 74steel wanted this special look, while the others were sold on two others, want different identities for their yachts.

The boat is a prefabricated platform, which means that the owners cannot make structural changes, but it also leads to stability and optimal performance. The engineers and designers have created unique rooms, including the Sundeck, which has a fireplace, a whirlpool and a bar/galley with al-Fresco restaurants that can be adjusted. The Sky Lounge now has a traditional lounge and an open aft deck that offers a large but separate social area. The main deck has five guest suites, including a VIP with its own living room, a lounge and a dining area.

The first two ships have Dassel-electric drive system, which was developed by Sanlorenzo in cooperation with Siemens Energy to maximize efficiency. The system also releases part of the interior, which can be devoted to owners and guests. The system comprises six Volvo-Penta mase generators at variable speed, which Twin Schottel E-Pods have with 1,000 kW each. The yacht also has a special climate system system the greatest performance on a ship that regulates how much cool air is delivered via the yacht, depending on whether the rooms are occupied or not.

“With the 74steel we question the idea that the size is excess,” said Massimo Perotti, chairman and CEO of the Sanlorenzo group in a statement. “We show that we can use the same refinement and precision that you can expect in this new, larger category of Sanlorenzo.”
