Based on Al Ghurair's track record in developing Dubai, the company has active interests in banking, development, food and mobility. The Al Ghurair family founded the region's first shopping center and mixed-use concept in 1981, the first private insurance company in 1975 and the first private bank in 1967. The company has also been involved in major infrastructure projects such as the Dubai Metro and the facade glazing of the Burj Khalifa. Sultan Al Ghurair, CEO of Al Ghurair Development, said: “Al Ghurair Collection marks a new chapter for us. It is a natural evolution of our commitment to the city's progress. As Dubai has emerged as one of the world's most dynamic and successful destinations, attracting increasingly discerning residents from around the world, it seemed timely to introduce what we believe to be the ultimate expression of extraordinary life found here.”
We founded Al Ghurair Collection to develop buildings that do not exist elsewhere. Our search for an architect who shared our commitment to originality and attention to detail led us to Kengo Kuma, a visionary with a truly unique design perspective.”
John Iossifidis, Group CEO of Al Ghurair, said: “The launch of the Al Ghurair Collection represents a key milestone for Dubai's real estate sector and reflects Al Ghurair's forward-looking strategic vision. We enter this space with the strength of a legacy built over six decades, built on trust, innovation and an uncompromising commitment based on quality and excellence.”

Our mission is clear: to create visionary projects, build with purpose and create spaces that provide lasting financial, social and cultural value for generations to come.”
The launch of Wedyan comes at a time when demand for luxury real estate in Dubai is reaching unprecedented levels. In the first half of 2025, the city recorded transactions worth AED431 billion, a 25% increase year-on-year, with sales of homes over AED10 million more than quadrupling in recent years. This market development reflects the interest of discerning families from around the world to make Dubai their permanent home.

Design and architecture influenced by nature
Designed by Kengo Kuma, whose name means “valleys”, Wedyan is considered a future landmark and marks its first project in the UAE. Kuma San, famous for cultural works such as the Japanese National Stadium in Tokyo and the Folk Art Museum of the China Academy of Art, is known worldwide for his approach that balances architecture with nature. At Wedyan he applied this approach by designing a facade inspired by the movement of water and sand. Its layered profile and textured exterior reflect the rhythm of the desert and valleys, creating a building unlike any other in the city.
Kengo Kuma said: “Wedyan is a dialogue between Japanese aesthetics and the context of Dubai. Our design philosophy is to connect architecture, nature and people and create a dialogue between them. In this project, our aim is to add softness to the design and create calm through shadows falling and reflecting across the facade, terraces and leisure spaces.”
Working with Al Ghurair was exciting. They understand the value of design and we share a mutual respect, which has naturally led to positive harmony in the realization of Wedyan,” he continued.
Wedyan stands 46 stories tall and includes 149 apartments with a mix of three-, four- and five-bedroom floor plans, two full-floor penthouses and a three-story sky villa. Key features include spacious outdoor living spaces, purposefully designed to be multifunctional, offering maximum comfort and quality of life; additional kitchen in the rear building with separate access next to the main kitchen, ideal for hosting catered dinner parties; and special glazing that protects the owners' artwork from UV rays. Some residences also feature stand-alone pavilions inspired by Japanese teahouses. Easily adaptable to residents' needs, they could provide the perfect setting for morning meditation or serve as a unique recording studio.
Al Ghurair Collection worked with more than 30 specialists to address every aspect of good living, including lighting, kitchen, facade and parking consultants. The landscaping was done in collaboration with Gustafson Porter + Bowman and integrates green spaces and water features into every level of the building. Deeply planted terraces and shaded promenades create gardens in the sky and provide greater privacy. The planting range includes species selected for their hardiness, aesthetics and compatibility with Dubai's climate, such as aloe vera, Bismarck palm and hanging ice plants. On the ground floor, a landscaped promenade and shimmering water accents add to the beauty of the Dubai Canal.

A vertical master plan
Wedyan has all the imaginable amenities a resident needs for a good life, offering more than 65,000 square meters of usable space carefully distributed across different levels of the building. Just below ground level, The Oasis arrival experience is lined with green spaces and water features leading to a luxury car stacker with humidity and temperature controls. The Shore and The Valley on Levels 2 and 3 are dynamic spaces for active living and leisure with family and friends, as well as hosting and entertaining. The Cave is a curated wellness cocoon on the 17th floor and The Mountain on the 36th floor is a dedicated space for private meetings. Inspiring amenities include private treatment rooms where residents can bring their own trusted therapists, a reformer Pilates studio, a podcast room and boxing facilities. Filtered air and water systems are integrated throughout the building to support overall well-being.
Located in one of Dubai's premier waterfront locations, Wedyan offers residents just minutes from the city's cultural, business and shopping districts, including Business Bay, Jumeirah and Downtown Dubai, and just 20 minutes from Dubai International Airport. The Al Ghurair Collection dedicated sales center at Mashreq HQ Tower in downtown Dubai welcomes potential buyers and provides a comprehensive introduction to Wedyan and its design ethos.
