Text description of the architects. Jinwan Aviation New City, one of Zhuhai's fastest growing districts, urgently needed a new community center to meet the needs of its growing population. Located in the heart of this new district, the property consisted of four independent outbuildings surrounded by dense residential development. However, due to hasty planning, these buildings suffered from design deficiencies: closed facades, interrupted circulation routes and a lack of functional synergies. The client's original plan was to renovate the facades and assign each building a specific function – offices, community activities or retail – to serve as ancillary facilities to support daily community life. However, since the budget is very limited, a traditional renovation approach would only provide selective improvements. A new strategy was needed. During on-site research, the architects realized that the key to creating a true community center lay not only in enhancing the facades, but in reinterpreting the spirit of the place. At the center of this vision was a long-overlooked gem – the adjacent urban green park.
