Oracle Red Bull Racing accelerates its digital communications at its global headquarters with Philips outdoor LED installations

PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays and complementary solutions, has announced its latest partner-led collaboration with Oracle Red Bull Racing, with the installation of two fully bespoke all-weather dvLED displays at the Formula 1 giant's global headquarters in Milton Keynes.

This new collaboration continues a series of transformation projects driven by Oracle Red Bull Racing with Philips Professional Displays – the exclusive digital display provider and team partner. This new collaboration brings the performance and sustainability benefits of the Philips LED range to the outside world for the first time at the Red Bull Technology Campus.

The campus spans more than 700,000 square meters and is home to Oracle Red Bull Racing, Red Bull Ford Powertrains, the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls team and the MK-7 venue, which also recently saw the installation of a record-breaking 46.25 m wide Philips LED wall, as well as a range of Philips signage and interactive displays.

This makes the campus a daily meeting place that welcomes visitors from all over the world – from celebrities to fans to engineers and employees.

Drive forward

After installing digital signage, interactive touchscreens and dvLED displays in the MK-7 event space and Oracle Red Bull Racing offices, the team turned their attention to greeting and guiding visitors as they enter the campus, replacing the existing signage with a new digitized and connected display solution. Security and high brightness were a must.

After several site visits and consultations, the P2.4 Philips Public LED 7000 Series displays were selected to be positioned on campus after vehicles passed through the security barrier and at the main entrance to MK-7.

With Milton Keynes receiving an average of over 730mm of rain annually, protecting the displays was crucial. PPDS therefore worked with Dutch-based specialist VEBO Digital Signage Solutions to build bespoke protective enclosures. The nearly 10-foot-tall cabinets are embossed with Oracle Red Bull Racing branding and built to withstand whatever weather Mother Nature throws at you.

The IP30 rating and conformal coating provide additional protection from moisture and pollutants.

Perfect handling

Central to the success of the project, and one of the many reasons why the Philips Public LED 7000 Series was the excellent choice to fulfill the team's ambitions, was its ability to deliver high brightness, high-quality resolution, and advanced colors and contrast to accurately represent the Oracle Red Bull Racing brand and its campaigns in all lighting conditions.

Using Novastar Controller and DS Templates CMS, content with a personal touch can be created, planned and effortlessly changed depending on the occasion – for example to welcome special guests, partners and for company events.

In keeping with the fast pace of Formula 1, the Philips Public LED 7000 Series also offers active health monitoring and is designed to make maintenance quick, predictable and easy – just like a pit stop.

Laurent Mekies, CEO and Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, commented: “In the high-risk world of Formula 1™, participating is not an option. From precise trackside displays and eye-catching branding in our hospitality areas, to the impressive LED arch and extensive screen network in the Red Bull Technology Campus, our Philips Professional Displays are uniquely configured to continue the magic of racing and showcase the best of Oracle Red Bull Racing.”

Jae O Choi Park, EMEA Commercial Head at PPDS, added: “By leveraging our network of PPDS partners, we can expand our Philips Professional Displays with unique solutions for Oracle Red Bull Racing. Indoors, outdoors and all around, we are committed to providing the best experiences for the team, as well as their visitors and guests.”
