The 22-year-old conservationist announced on Instagram on Tuesday, December 2, that he is “going back home” to work with the Crocodile Hunter Lodge at Australia Zoo, which opened in 2022.
“It was a pretty passionate project we worked on,” he said as videos and pictures of the lodge were shown. He added that the venue is “a way to truly welcome everyone into our home.”
Irwin expressed his gratitude for the “incredible” support he has received in the US and said it was “really cool to see” people now visiting Australia Zoo.
“Honestly, we wanted to create something so that everyone could have a real home away from home when they visit us,” he added.

The luxurious lodge is located in the Australian Zoo, where visitors can overlook the bushland and native wildlife. The lodge was designed to honor Steve's legacy and his love of animals.

In addition to rustic cabins, the lodge features lush gardens, the Warrior Restaurant, an outdoor dining area and an infinity pool, all set in multi-species habitat. Each guest receives unlimited entry to the Australian Zoo and a complimentary breakfast.
The lodge is environmentally friendly as recycled materials were used in its construction, continuing Steve's mission to advance conservation efforts worldwide.
“Here at the lodge you are completely immersed in everything the zoo is about,” Irwin said in his video on Tuesday. “Not just having a personal experience with wildlife, but also doing something to protect wildlife. Ultimately, that's what it's all about for us.”
“I hope you all come to visit me at home soon,” he concluded.
