When Cartier is reopening its flagship boutique in Miami's Miami Design District, not just opening a store – it's presenting a sensual, architectural ode to luxury, light and the spirit of the city. The newly renovated and expanded boutique at 147 NE 39th Street is a shimmering jewel in Miami's crown of high-end retail.
A facade designed for movement and mystery
As you approach the boutique, you are greeted by a curved, undulating glass facade designed by the renowned studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R). The undulating surface draws the eye like a wave – an architectural nod to Miami's shimmering coastline. The glass is engraved with a delicate motif based on a Cartier brooch from 1909. As the sun and shadow move across the street, the pattern appears and disappears. The effect is less reminiscent of a shop window and more of a glowing invitation. “We designed the wrap-around façade of corrugated glass to attract passers-by while connecting the store and the street,” says the founding partner of DS+R.
This fluid exterior dissolves the boundary between boutique and boulevard – Cartier dresses the street itself in elegance.

Interiors that whisper Miami and Cartier
Once the visitors are inside, they go somewhere Interior designer Laura Gonzalez calls it a “sensory journey.” Each floor expresses a different mood: vitality at the entrance, intimacy in private salons, serenity on the roof terrace. Warm coral tones, soft greens and muted golds reflect the region's tropical color palette. Organic motifs inspired by palm fronds, mangroves and marine life, climbing columns.
A sculptural shell staircase winds up through the boutique – a subtle nod to Miami's coastal landscape. Once you reach the rooftop terrace, complete with handcrafted benches, lush plantings, and bright tiles, the boutique feels more like a private retreat than a store.

A complete Cartier universe – now room to breathe
The renovation significantly expands Cartier's presence in Miami. The boutique now carries the Maison's entire offering: fine jewelryWatches, leather goods, fragrances, accessories – the entire Cartier universe under one roof.
More importantly, the space invites you to pause. Private salons, lounge areas and event spaces make Cartier not only a place to shop, but also a place to linger, reflect and experience luxury on a deeper level.

When architecture becomes jewelry and jewelry becomes space
In this redesigned flagship, Cartier doesn't just sell elegance – it lives it too. The glass facade shines like a gemstone in the Miami sun. Interiors evoke tropical gardens, light-filled courtyards and refined French craftsmanship. Every detail – from etched patterns to soft color palettes – feels deliberate, curated and serene.
For Miami lovers, design aficionados and travelers passing through the Design District, Cartier's new flagship offers more than just shopping. It promises an experience: sensual, haunting, unforgettable.
And in a city where style and reinvention are commonplace, it could set a new standard in luxury retail.
