Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) – On January 1, 2025, Missoula Police Department officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle crashing through a fence and into a person's backyard near Parker Court. A truck drove three meters.
The complainant reported that he was awakened early in the morning by the sound of a truck reversing out of his fence and yard. He came out onto his porch and watched as his neighbor, who works for the police, handcuffed the male driver. The complainant's fence was severely damaged. He has a small child and a family, but there was no one on the farm at the time.
His neighbor reported that she was on her way to work when a red truck drove through her yard. Her garden was damaged along its entire length, including planters and a large tree stump that were knocked over and swept away. The stump tore parts of the truck's transmission. She almost left to check her mail before work and said she would have been hit by the truck if she had.
A third home was also damaged, but it was not in the home. A stone retaining wall was scattered across a driveway and there were some decorative lights in the neighboring yard. Damage is expected to exceed $1,500.
The officer learned that the truck had already been driven by an impaired driver. The driver of the truck was identified by his license as 20-year-old Riley Allen. Allen refused medical attention and had difficulty standing. His speech was slurred, his eyes were red and watery, and his breath carried the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage.

According to court documents, Allen admitted to drinking three tequila and soda drinks. He agreed to undergo standardized field sobriety tests and showed 13 of 14 signs of impairment on the HGN test and the walk and turn test. Allen had difficulty standing, so the officer did not ask him to take the one-legged stand test.
After reading the PAST notice, Allen agreed to provide a portable breath test that returned 0.219% BrAC. Allen was arrested for drunk driving and taken to the Missoula County Detention Center.
Allen is currently charged with criminal deception, aggravated drunk driving and reckless driving.
