CES 2025 was another breakthrough for interesting audio devices. From new applications for innovations like spatial audio, to ever smaller and more powerful devices, to ideas for additional features or ways to leverage existing features, the world of speakers is constantly evolving.
After my week in Las Vegas, I'm most impressed with these speakers, which represent different types of audio experiences (and I'm not including soundbars or similar systems).
Stormberg Twin 2 speakers
Stormberg-Carlson, a historic audio brand, is making a global comeback with a range of audio devices, including the innovative Twin 2 portable speaker. Available in two sizes, the Twin 2 features a two-in-one design that allows it to be split into two separate speakers connected by magnets. The split function ensures impressive portability and functionality, allowing the speakers to be operated at a distance of up to 20 feet.
In hands-on testing at CES, the Twin 2 demonstrated strong sound quality, including 20 watts of power and a 2.25-inch subwoofer in each device. Independent volume control for each speaker and 10 hours of battery life via USB-C make it even more attractive. With stylish color options and Bluetooth connectivity, the Twin 2 combines design and performance like no other manufacturer.
Kanto UKI
Set to launch in the second half of 2025 at an affordable price of $199 / £199 (around AU$320), the Kanto UKI desktop speakers offer incredible sound quality. As a budget sibling to the Kanto Ren and Ora 4, the UKI features a signature Kanto design that is extremely elegant in available colors Black, White, Colbat and Sage.
Audio is driven by 3-inch concave cone drivers and 3/4-inch silk dome tweeters – plus subwoofer output if you want to add that. As for connectivity, there are options for USB-C, RCA and Bluetooth 5.0 input, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack for output if you so desire. They seem ideal for those who want a small but powerful audio option.
Soundcore Rave 3S
Large karaoke speakers are nothing new these days. Of course, the best models do an excellent job of combining excellent sound quality, battery life and a solid range of functions. Soundcore takes things to a new, interesting level with the Rave 3S. Priced at $349 when it releases soon, the speaker uses artificial intelligence in interesting ways, including vocal enhancements, reverb, and a vocal removal feature for each song. This means that any song on your music streaming app can be used for karaoke. There's also a powerful 200-watt speaker with LED lighting that's designed to fill rooms up to 100 square feet.
LG xboom grave by will.i.am
Musician, producer and technology nerd will.i.am has a long history in the audio sector through his previous ventures with iam+ and earphone brands Buttons. The Black Eyed Peas frontman is now collaborating with LG for the new Xboom speaker range. The Bluetooth speakers have a clean design with an angled bottom for optimal sound projection, although they are small enough to fit in a car cup holder.
For its size, we think it offers an impressive base with clear vocals and undistorted performance. At the moment there is no release date other than this year or price point.
Victrola Zen Outdoor Rock Speakers
Victrola may be more known for its various lines of high-quality turntables, but it also has a number of different speakers that come with the same quality. This includes the Zen Outdoor Rock Speaker, which is available in a set of two but allows wireless connections with up to twenty similar speakers.
Add to that solar charging and a rock-like design that fits perfectly into any backyard or outdoor garden. This latest update features a sleeker design and the ability to connect to an unlimited number of speakers thanks to Bluetooth Auracast technology, which is a brilliant addition. It basically allows for an outdoor system with multiple speakers without the need for WiFi. The Zen Outdoor Rock Speaker is scheduled to launch this spring for $199 each.
