Australia's largest The Australian Design Centre's prestigious biennial prize for innovation in craft and design, the Make Award, is now open for submissions. This national competition recognizes Australian designers/makers across a wide range of disciplines including ceramics, glass, furniture, woodwork, metalwork, textiles, fibers and jewellery.
With a generous cash prize of $35,000 for the winner and a second prize of $10,000, the Make Award is recognized as the highest non-acquisitive craft and design award in Australia. The aim of the award is to recognize designers and makers who push boundaries and demonstrate exceptional skills, particularly those who work with new materials or explore innovative techniques.
Australian designers/makers who have created work within 18 months of the entry date are eligible to enter. The competition encourages new and inventive approaches, with an emphasis on work that goes beyond the manufacturer's usual practice. Furthermore, submitted works must not have been exhibited in another exhibition context.
The deadline to register for the awards is May 5, 2025. Winners will be announced in October 2025.
Further details on how to enter and eligibility requirements can be found on the Make Award website.
