Chinese architecture practice 3andwich Design / He Wei Studio has designed a gallery on a cliff that contains irregularly shaped lighting tubes and imitates marine creatures in China.
The 460 square meter building of the Blue Insight Cave Space is located along Donghai No. 1 Road, Ningde City, Province of Fujian, China.
The building is embedded in the location and presents an irregular shape
According to the 3andwich Design / He Wei Studio team, the location has extensive views. The Bijia Mountain Island, which rises great out of the sea and has several reefs and sea caves, which border the cliffs below, is located directly in front of the platform.
The structure should take up cultural events, tourists meeting points and rest areas and at the same time receive the pleasant view of the original location and the consideration of specific catering requirements.
The bird's eye view
The architectural design not only creates the idea of low -carbon and energy savings trenches, but also places a strong focus on the relationship with the environment.
The surrounding reefs and sea caves of the location served as inspiration for the design. The irregular shape and the not right angle of the building give it a reef -like appearance.
The building can be inspired by surrounding reefs and sea men's caves
To minimize the amount of land that is occupied, the building uses a shape of a ground. Since the main body of the building is underground, it respects the environment and keeps the interior temperature relatively constant, which lowers the energy required for summer cooling.
The roof of the building serves as a observation platform, and the term “zero land is used” is made possible by the newly planted plants and the covered soil. On the roof you will find numerous strangely shaped ventilation and lighting openings.
The building is integrated into its surroundings
Their forms, which are largely mixed and distributed throughout the grassland, resemble in the form of flat circles, triangles or long tubes. You can serve as installations on Rooftop meadows in which visitors can play and take pictures while you are in the Inne -Inter Inner Consumption and Li-.
Northern facade
The outside of the building is designed in an unusual form. By using structural and functional openings (doors and windows), the wall shows a geometric cutting and combination relationship, accompanied by different angles of inclination of the walls, the structure seems to be like a relatively abstract reef. The concrete is roughened to give the building a more rock -like feeling and create a more natural texture.
South facade
The main entrance to the building is located on the west side of the roof with a semicircular shape that extends from the underground. From here, people can penetrate the interior of the building through the descending passage.
The inside of the building consists of several interconnected “caves” rooms.
The building is half hidden underground
The architect was inspired by the surrounding sea trenches and created an organic and dramatic space through mimicry. The interior is divided into three areas: lobby, main room and logistics room.
The roof platform is opened on the corner to form an overhanging terrace
The main room consists of two areas, salon and gallery, both on the side of the building in front of the sea, with a good view. This place can organize exhibitions, small meetings and offer catering services.
The lighting systems on the roof
In order to minimize its effects on the nightly activities of animals and the surrounding area, the architectural lighting is held on a minimum.
In order to create a quiet mood and form the design of the building, only slight lighting lights are used in strategic areas such as entry nodes, roof lighting pipes and outer facade corners.
