Westport – Two women, both Ciara (an Irish name, pronounced “Kiera”), have teamed up, for Nômade Design, a new business in the 190 Main St.
Ciara Webster is a partner in the Nômade Restaurant down the street, which was opened in August 2022 and is decorated with a multifaceted international flair, including hand -woven baskets, wooden furniture from Morocco and accents of the decor in the Middle East.
The compliments of the guests in relation to the atmosphere together with their girlfriend Ciara Connelly to open a business that resembles baskets, residential culture and other goods that fall to the customer in the restaurant.

The Nômade design with goods with international flair draws a large part of its inventory from South Africa, in which webster has spent a large part of your childhood.
Everything is authentic – none of the household design articles in the shop is copies. “It's really African. There are no images from other places, ”she said.
“It's a shabby chic. Nothing is Schick in Africa. ”
The simple but beautiful goods not only offers a committed backdrop for residential decorations, but also helps to maintain the basket weaving that you produce.
“It is mainly women who produce them, and for them they make their livelihood,” said Webster. “They live in small villages in which people rely on income.”
Connelly, based in Westport for 20 years, has a background in the jewelry business, and Nômade design also sells a number of jewelry that glitter in a shop window.
In contrast to mined diamonds, the business sells “laboratory nants”, explained Connelly. They are “more sustainable and ethically related,” she said, showing gemstones in various environments and colors.

Laboratoryists are “the way of the future” for high-end jewelry, the women said. “They are chemically and physically identical to dismantled diamonds and have the same certification from the International Gemological Institute, but cost much less,” said Connelly, as much as a tenth of the price for dismantled diamonds.
Apart from the fact that you offer a unique decor and jewelry, Nômade design helps to bring buyers to a Main Street route that is often overlooked, said Webster.
A further addition to the Upper Main Street is a second restaurant by Webster and Patrick Jean, her partner in the Nômade restaurant. The new restaurant is scheduled to open a few doors from the Nômade design at the beginning of this summer, she said.
“We focus more on this part of Main Street.”
Nômade Design, 190 Main St., Suite A, is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and on Sundays to Wednesday by appointment. The hours can be expanded in the future. Call 203-293-4010 to make more information or an appointment.
