The bar car dates from the 19th century, but many of us consider it a modern staple from the middle of the century, which partly led to the TV show again Mad Men. Because who doesn't want to feel like Don Draper from time to time? Bar wagons are cheeky and funny and you are a great way to show your favorite coupes and highballs. The problem with you is that you are not the most functional pieces, especially in a small space. Designers are aware of this and make movements. Your new preference? The bar cabinet.
“Bar cupboards definitely have a bright moment. Bar wagons are funny and flirting, but bar cabinets feel adult and more deliberately,” says Sara Malek Barney from Bandd/Design. “I see that more customers want something that fits seamlessly into their home and at the same time gives an explanation.” A bar cabinet will be your new favorite accumulation. Here is the reason.
Why you might want a bar cabinet
“Like the chic older cousin of the bar car, they are more storage, more functions and much more style potential,” says Barney. On the one hand, they give them more hidden memory. While bar wagons are beautiful, allow them to see everything and we think everything. This functional, but not so pretty Shaker and Zester are fully equipped and do your glam glasses for attention. In addition, cupboards protect their glassware and bar essentials from dust, so that they don't have to wash every piece again before serving a drink.
Bar cabinets also bring a lot of style to a room and the opportunity to select courageous hardware and cool design functions. “It also feels more like a permanent part of the house than a rolling accessory,” says Barney.
How to select the correct cash cabinet
As with any other piece of furniture, you would like to think about size and scale. Will the piece add your room without totally overwhelming it? Next look at the function. “Today's bar cabinets are often equipped with luxury features such as integrated lighting, glass shelves, lined drawers and mirror support,” says Bellizaire. “These details give a feeling of glamor and sophistication and at the same time improve functionality.”
Barney realizes that you also have to take the mood into account and whether you want your bar cabinet to stand out or interference. “I love to use a bar cabinet as a moment to bring a funny personality boost, be it through an unexpected form, a vintage piece or a brave color or texture that dissolves the rest of the room,” she says.
Where you can express it
Common wisdom would say the dining room, but realistically you want to put the closet on the place where you actually entertain you. If that's the living room or the cave, then move it in there! “When choosing the room, I concentrate on the overall river of the house. Where will you entertain?
How to style a bar cabinet
Bellizaire recommends to be easy to style and dress your closet with a pretty tray, curated barware, a sculptural object and a pretty flower arrangement. Leave the closed parts for your hard -working supplies and make the rest look elegant. “Let the surface tell a story that reflects the season or its characteristic cocktail,” she says. Barney reflects this idea. “It is a great place for a small lamp, art or something unexpected to give it a lived, designed look.” Barney also likes the layered look that mixes vintage glasses with a few pretty cocktail books and something unexpected like a funky ice rink.
