Amidst all the fashion and design weeks, fall brings with it another important category of trend predictions for the interior design world: 2026 Color of the Year announcements. Benjamin Moore is the latest brand to reveal its hue that's set to set the mood for 2026, and it seems that the trend cycle is thankfully starting to slow down.
Yes, the newly crowned shadow of Benjamin Moore, silhouetteis a deep, warm brown with strong gray and purple undertones. It's elegant, timeless and a shade that will stand out as an accent as well as fit into a neutral palette. What's more interesting, however, is that it's not that different from Benjamin Moore's 2025 Color of the Year, Cinnamon Slate – “an evolution, not a revolution,” as Benjamin Moore's Helen Shaw explains.
For a color of the year, it's a pretty timeless neutral, but as interior design studio 1508 London's design principle, Ailsa Connery explains: “It's the kind of color that forms a perfect base – think of it as the backbone of your design.” And while some colors of the year are extreme in their selection, this is one color that many people actually use.
In fact, embracing familiarity was key to the brand's thought process when making the selection silhouettealong with the accompanying “Tailored Classics” color palette. Much like a favorite suit or little black dress, these shades are comfortable and long-lasting.
We're looking for rich, sublime hues to inspire us in our interiors while feeling rooted in the comfort of nostalgia. silhouette captures these characteristics and feels like a natural progression for 2026. So how should you bring it into your home? I've broken it all down below.

Benjamin Moore describes this shade as “reminiscent of tailored suits,” and I don’t think it could be more accurate. It's not just a brown or gray, but an elegant combination of both with a hint of purple, another royal color.

“Classic pieces and the cornerstones of traditional design exude comfort and security. They have staying power for a reason and offer the opportunity to be more dynamic and innovative when putting together a scheme,” explains Helen Shaw, color expert and marketing director at Benjamin Moore.
Current color trends point to a softer, more individual interpretation of the well-known classics. For example, rich oxblood tones that appear brown in certain lighting conditions, or darker teal tones that don't look as vibrant or bold in a room. Helen says: “With silhouetteIt’s all about the details and attention that goes into designing an outfit and a room.”
There is a balance between comfortable and chic, making it easily fall into the category of classic colors while at the same time taking on an extremely versatile character. If necessary, it can have an espresso color, or depending on the light and how the color is used, it can be more anthracite, as Ailsa explains. “In daylight you get a cooler, fresher gray, while at night it feels warmer and more calming,” she says.

The combination of brown and gray in the interior design color wheel makes this possible silhouette to flow with neutral color schemes, monochromatic looks and even as a base color with bright hues. It's a true workhorse.
However, Benjamin Moore has done all the hard work for you, curating a palette of eight shades perfectly tailored (hence the “Tailored Classics”) to showcase the capsule-wardrobe-for-your-walls nature of silhouette.
From neutral combinations to full colors, below are some of the shades you can expect to see in the palette.
