The reborn house adapts to urban change and preserves the memory

Is in a suburban area of BangkokThe Reborn House project by Dare – Design Arena + Research is located in a village that is shared by a new public road and transforms a quiet area into a busy district. The 30-year-old HouseInfluenced by Thailand's early new time with professional rooms, complex hips RoofAnd Wood Elements, required a transformation caused the loss of data protection, security and green spaces due to urban disorders. Customers requested an updated design and a new spatial experience that promotes the interaction of the family and at the same time preserves the spirit of the house.

Recognizing the material value and the aesthetics of craftsmanship, existing key elements such as roof, wooden stairs, parquet floors and curved walls are preserved. Instead of mixing old and new, the design places a visual contrast to create a dialogue. A light -torn range highlights the existing features and increases them as sculptural presences in a refreshing environment.

Dare transforms a 30-year-old house into an open social space

The Design team At Dare-Design Arena + Research Neumagines earlier, rooms divided into an open, slightly filled room that promotes the family connection. A bedroom in the southwest that tends to gain in the heat is laid to the first floor and its base plate is removed. This leads to a uniform space with a double height that takes over visual and social connections across the levels and at the same time introduces the once hidden staircase as a sculptural heart. Large openings are introduced for ventilation, natural light and garden views, while solid walls on the intensive heat of the southwest side block offer privacy from a new building site. The entrance with a painted planter and a terrace dissolves the existing level change. In the meantime, other bedrooms, service areas and sanitary systems are retained in order to minimize construction costs and waste.

The transformation preserves the harmonious relationship of the house to the neighboring houses

Curved walls and fences refer to the existing forms of the village

The facade design emphasizes a simple but strong expression. The textile facades are selected for its translucency, simple installation, ease, affordability and weather resistance and diffuse gently daylight and gave soft shadows as they deliver privacy. They create a reversal at night and quietly to give the house an unmistakable presence. A combination of solid wall fence and white aluminum lines offers privacy and security and at the same time balances visibility and interaction with the neighbors. Inspired by the existing curved elements in the village, the curvature of the facades and fences combines the house with its context through a contemporary language.

The design maximizes the decreasing green, which is caused by urban interventions, maximizes the green areas by keeping an existing garden and an existing trees in the northeast, introducing new ones around the house and creating a dedicated green bag along the shaped fence for sharing visual and ecological advantages with the neighbors. The distance of the front lower roof extends the entrance and transforms it into a more open and inviting room. In return, its existing rays on the second floor are implemented as planters, which creates vertical green. The result is a sensitive dialogue between memory and modernity, in which the family interaction is encouraged by the open and connected space.
