
As part of his commitment to improve the dark sky in the community, the Deschute County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, July 10, to check the proposed changes to the district lighting regulations.
The planning commission and the Board of County Commissioners have support for changing the change of the County outdoor lighting regulation. After the employees of the community development of two panels received feedback on this topic, the employees of the community development have proposed changes to the regulation that deal with public concerns regarding slight pollution.
The proposed changes include:
- Simplification of the code to support responsible lighting practices
- Update the terminology to better reflect current lighting bodies
- Use of Dark Sky International's guiding principles that offer best practices for responsible lighting
- Clarification of types of facilities and lighting bodies that are liberated
The public is invited to take part in a public hearing during the regular session of the planning commission 5:30 p.m. To Thursday, July 10th, In the Barnes Sawyer Room of the Deschut County Services Building in the 1300 NW Wall Street in Bend.
