Eco-products announced today that they are an official zero waste partner of the San Francisco Giants. The partnership will contain compostable food service packaging of eco-products within Oracle Park to support the composting program and the total efforts of the company's waste redirection.
The approach for eco-products is system-oriented and developed to promote cooperation between the location operations, foodservice stakeholders, waste transporters and composers.
“We have long admired the waste dividing program in Oracle Park,” said Wendell Simonson, marketing director of eco -products. “Get the opportunity to help the Giants to use compostable packaging to keep the food waste away from landfills away is a milestone performance and one that we could no longer look forward to.”
“Our partnership with eco -products is an important step in our ongoing efforts to run Oracle Park as one of the most sustainable places in sports,” said Alfonso Felder, Chief Operations and Experience Officer at the San Francisco Giants. “By including compostable food service products in the entire Oracle Park, we significantly reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and improves the fan experience.”
The San Francisco Giants have long committed to sustainability and remain leadership in environmental responsibility.
Oracle Park was the first major League baseball stadium, which received the US Green Building Council (USGBC) Platinum (2019), Gold (2015) and Silver (2010) for management qualities for energy and environmental design (LEED) for existing buildings, operation and maintenance (EBOM).
Due to a robust composting program, the Giants have achieved waste reduction rates of more than 90 percent. Thanks to a partnership with Recology, the Giants send food waste and certified compostable packaging from the Oracle Park of composting instead of landfolter – a critical lever in the broader efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In 2019, the Giants won the Environment innovator of the year of the Green Sports Alliance, which was awarded for their enormous work in sports and sustainability. Innovators of the year embody the sports green movement in its organization and company by implementing projects that reduce the effects on the environment and encourage fans, athletes and stakeholders to do the same.
Eco -products has a long history in working with baseball stages, stadiums, event locations, ski areas and others in order to achieve waste on site by using compostable packaging. They set themselves for a system approach for the pollution disorders embodied in the “Circ” program, a series of open sourcing tools, with which the food service industry does not keep compostable from organic streams.
