A homeowner must now remove the boundary fence he erected without planning permission after Falkirk City Council refused him the green light to keep it.

Gary Allan submitted an application for retrospective planning permission on October 14, which was confirmed on October 17, to retain the boundary fence he had erected on Anderson Drive, Carron.

Planning officers, acting under delegated powers, refused planning permission on Monday 6 January.

The 3.54 meter high fence is said to be above the required height and the council has received two objections to the construction.

The objectors said they had safety concerns due to the fence's proximity to the road and that properties on the road had fences no higher than two meters.

They also claimed the fence did not suit the character of the area and also blocked views of the hills.
