Rainton Construction Scotland has started the transformation of Glasgows George Square and the surrounding streets.
As part of the Glasgow Avenues program, the regeneration was financed by the city contract of Glasgow City Region.
The work of the project includes the improvement of all surfaces with natural stone products, the installation of sensory play areas with new seating and rain gardens, the installation of an increased lawn platform and the introduction of new tree species such as Gingko, Rowan and Sweetgum.
New lighting is also adapted to create flexible events for local communities.
Neil McCallum, managing director of Rainton, says that the project promises to “deliver a revitalized George Square mix, sustainability and a modern bourgeois life”.
The work is expected to end until summer 2027.
