Hundreds are expected to demonstrate at the state Capitol against green energy initiatives

Attorney General Gentner Drummond and several Republican lawmakers will speak at a rally hosted by the Freedom Brigade at the State Capitol on Monday morning.

Organizers expect hundreds of participants at the rally, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on the second floor of the Capitol.

The goal of the event is to send a clear message to Gov. Kevin Stitt that green energy initiatives are not working for Oklahoma.

State Representative Jim Shaw, one of today's speakers, argues that green energy efforts have failed to provide a return on investment and are burdening taxpayers with rising utility rates.

“If you believe in the state of Oklahoma and that the oil and gas industry has been the foundation of it for generations, the goal of this green energy is to eradicate the oil and gas industry,” Shaw said.

House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson takes a contrasting perspective, advocating for a balanced approach to energy in Oklahoma that includes traditional oil and gas as well as environmentally friendly initiatives.

“Think about where we can grow our economy, where we can create better, higher-paying jobs that allow families to take care of their basic needs — whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, that's what “We should think about: these types of solutions,” Munson said.

The rally is open to the public and organizers encourage participants to learn more about green energy initiatives and their impact on the state.
