Increase the voice of the landscape architects and create living and resilient communities

Asla is still steadfast in our mission to work for landscape architects, to promote the resistance of the climate and to arrange a fair, common design. These principles are the basis of our work, as described in Vision 2030, and they will continue to lead us.

Since the developing changes in federal politics affect our profession, we take deliberate, strategic measures to protect the interests of our members and maintain our basic values.

It is not our approach to react impulsively, but to lead to the intention-to cause the efforts of ASLA effectively, disciplined and with our long-term goals.

This page pursues our latest actions and offers instructions on how members can remain informed and committed.

Priority areas

We focus on critical topics in which we can have the greatest influence. We expect these priority areas to develop and change over time. We are currently focusing on:

Protection of federal financing

We believe that investments in parks, flood protection and resilient roads means to invest in health, security and well -being in the community. Landscape architects have the solutions – now we need continued guidelines and funds to enable them.

Many landscape architecture projects are based on federal financing. While parts of freezing have been canceled through the financial support of the federal government, the former implementation regulation contained the American energy guidelines to immediately pause the payment of some of the law on inflation of reduced law and the infrastructure investment and job law. Indeed, many withdrawals remain.

Since many of our members have accessed funds from these programs, we will make it a priority to present regular updates of the latest information as soon as they are available.

Our actions:

Defense of design freedom

We believe that design should never be restricted – it must reflect the culture, the needs and the identity of the people who serve. Landscape architects do not put any solutions on them with municipalities.

On January 20, an executive order, which promoted beautiful federal citizens' architecture, demanded a Federal Review and Oversight process for the design of federal buildings and locations with a focus on classic architecture.

Asla is committed to working for the management of landscape architects and ensuring that design professionals have freedom to form our public spaces.

Our actions:

Confirm climate effect

We believe that climate action is now required. Increasing temperatures, deterioration and extreme weather are not future threats – they are coming up. Landscape architects are not waiting for debates – we design solutions.

On January 20, the Executive Ordinance, which in international environmental agreements put America in the first place, terminated the intention of the United States to return from the Paris Agreement as part of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change. This action was expected.

ASLA rejects the campaign of the US US responsibility to remedy climate change and its effects. We confirm ASLA's obligations for a fair climate aperium for everyone.

Our actions:

Advocate of diversity and repetation for everyone

We believe that large landscapes reflect the people who use them, respect the history of a place and serve all communities. This only happens if all voices are part of the design process. Landscape architects understand that the inclusion of different perspectives is not just a principle – it is essential for better results.

On January 20, a number of instructions for the execution of diversity, equity and inclusion programs were granted in the public and private sector. This includes the end of radical and wasteful DEI programs of the government as well as the preference and defense of women against the extremism of gender ideology and the restoration of the biological truth of the federal government.

As a profession and as an organization, we strive to be representative, reflective and respectful towards the communities that we serve.

Our actions:

Strengthen business

We believe that landscape architecture and all their advantages thrive when the guidelines support business development, fair competition and professional recognition.

Both the legislative and the management of the executive have signaled the intention to extend the law on tax cuts and jobs from 2017, which contains certain tax regulations that affect landscape architects and ASLA. Similarly, the development of tariffs with Canada, Mexico, China and the rest of the world could significantly influence the costs for landscape architecture projects, from parks and street landscapes to large -scale urban developments.

These challenges emphasize the need for licensed landscape architects that already have the knowledge, specialist knowledge and the way of thinking to drive strict standards for public security, environmental administration and sustainable design. These experts are ready to satisfy complex design challenges, regulatory requirements and the developing needs of the communities.

ASLA is committed to the further development of guidelines that support financial health and professional stability of landscape architects. From tax policy to trade regulations and the protection of the license, we are working to ensure that the terms and conditions can thrive on the job.
