At that time, Valeria Castillo was newcomers at Sierra High almost a year ago at that time.
She was not too far from her doctorate in the eighth grade on the Woodward Elementary School when she took part in Sierra High in the first semester orientation.
“I didn't have many of (Woodward) here at SHS,” said Castillo, who almost immediately bought into the events of the day, which was organized by Link Crew. This is a national program that facilitates the transition for incoming beginners by combining the upper class mentors that are better known as link executives.
This year she is one of the five in the second year of studies that were selected as link leaders, said Castillo at the freshmen orientation event for the SHS class from 2029.
She knows that it will help to get involved in school – clubs, sports and other extra -curricular activities – to enable pleasant experience.
In addition to Link Crew, Castillo is involved in drama courses and clubs such as family, career and community leaders of America at SHS.
FCCLA is an organization for student management for home economics students. The local chapter offers opportunities for the self -development of students and at the same time prepares them for life in the family and in the community as well as for employment.
According to Steve Clark, who is the long -time headmaster at SHS – and only his third in school history – this group of Neulingen is one of the largest in terms of enrollment at around 409.
Those who participated in the orientation of the new students were involved in a variety of iron activities initiated by the Link crew consultant Tyler Ryan.
The newcomers later broke into smaller groups to meet their link leaders and get to know them, which will be available to them during this transition throughout the school year.
They are encouraged to deal with school. On the one hand, Castillo knows how important it is.
