New owners are looking for feedback on the future of the good Counsel Campus

Mankato, Minn. (Keyc) -Back in February the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership (SWMHP) announced an agreement with the school sisters from Notre Dame to acquire the Good Counsel Hill Campus, which has been drained in the limbos in 2022.

The organization had previously been a partner of the school sisters and had their home on the Good Counsel campus.

While ownership of the property does not officially change the owner in autumn, the new owners are already making plans for the future of the historical campus.

“The potential uses for the future will vary,” said Jeneman from SWMHP. “There will be a residential component, but also a multi -purpose room, there will be space for small companies and non -profit organizations to have space for your organizations and your office here. Therefore there will be many purposes in the future.”

The organization said that they intend to keep the structure of the historical campus as intact as possible and mainly make internal renovations to modernize buildings wherever they are needed.

This includes updating supply companies and the implementation of upgrades for accessibility or combining single rooms in order to make habitats big enough for families.

This is a process that the new owners say that it will take many years to shake away, and their plan is to start in the most frequently used areas and gradually work on the edges.

“These buildings are old, but they were extraordinarily maintained so that our work is getting easier. We don't have to enter and expand every building or anything so that it has a use. It is updated more, based on rooms or toilets,” said Theneman.

The new owners' group will hold a public meeting at Pioneer Bank in the Adams Street in Mankato on Wednesday, March 26th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The group said they would share their plans for the area and hear from Community members about what they want to see with the historical campus.
