He said that the number was a result of research that experts carried out within and globally.

Nyah said that by spreading, plants and use, the development of the value chain of bamboo could create thousands of jobs and income earners.

“It will also diversify the economy, get the foreign exchange exchange, make dependency dependent on import, promote environmental compatibility and reduce climate change.

He identified bamboo as a unique and invaluable capital in order to tackle various global challenges from climate change to fighting poverty.

According to him, Bambus is one of the most versatile and sustainable resources in the world.

“It offers environmentally friendly building materials to combat climate change and also contributes to restoring deteriorated land and supporting the local economy.

“Bamboo quickly creates a green gold from the wood of a poor man,” said Nyah.

However, the President said that the new markets had opened up more opportunities to promote bamboo as an alternative to plastic and other impact materials, an elegant partnership for the wood industry.

“Bamboo was used as a wooden replacement and input material in the industrial production of huge uses such as in furniture, building materials, pulp and paper, fabrics and toothpicks.

“Bamboo stands out as a remarkable resource and offers an incredible of over 10,000 documented uses,” he said.

He also called for the implementation of the National Bambus value creation chain development program to change the country's economic landscape.
