Beginning with Armistice Day, Tuesday was Veterans Day and Remembrance Day, where we honored all military veterans, living and deceased, who served. Thank you to our veterans and the families who support them! Monday was World Science Day for Peace and Development, a day that deserves recognition at this time of challenge for the scientific community.

Did you know that because of Toronto's Green Roof Bylaw, more than 1,200 green roofs have been installed in this city since 2009? The highly successful mandate was the first in North America and was repeated in Denver, Chicago, San Francisco and New York City. But the mandatory measure was unfortunately repealed last week, putting 1,600 jobs at risk, according to Ontario opposition MPPs. Implementation of policies and incentives in the form of rebates, tax credits, tax breaks, density bonuses, etc. are crucial for successful implementation.
Remembering Kongjian Yu: The visionary landscape architect and sponge city innovator and advocate tragically died in a plane crash in September. Dr. Kongjian Yu's groundbreaking, multi-award-winning work in green infrastructure has been to heal the world's cities and mitigate flooding accelerated by climate change with nature-based solutions. He is honored by many of us.
