Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inaugurated the Punalu For Wood & Plastic Industries plant for the production of artificial marble, wood-plastic composite panels (WPC) and UPVC doors and windows in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The inauguration comes as part of the state's plan and efforts to boost the manufacturing sector, support the transition to a green economy and advance sustainable development goals.
During the opening ceremony, Madbouli reiterated the government's commitment to promoting industries based on innovation and clean technologies, noting that such projects contribute to strengthening the national economy through high-quality, competitive products that meet regional and global market standards.
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, said that the project reflects the continuous development of the industrial ecosystem in the SCZONE, especially in modern, sustainable industries based on composite materials.
He added that the authority remains focused on improving services for investors and promoting projects aligned with global trends of green industrial transformation. Madbouli was briefed by Mohamed Zaher Gamal, the factory's CEO and owner, who explained that the factory specializes in the production of artificial marble, including Corian and Bazellion types, as well as a range of plastic products and environmentally friendly WPC panels and profiles that meet the needs of modern construction and interior design.
Zaher pointed out that the project covers an area of 20,000 square meters with a total investment of $12 million and an initial production capacity of 14 tons per day, which is expected to increase to 56 tons per day once all production lines are fully operational.
He added that the factory serves as an integrated model of circular economy by using sustainable and environmentally friendly resources, converting waste into reusable materials and using advanced smart recycling technologies for plastics, reducing dependence on natural wood, contributing to the protection of forests and reducing CO2 emissions in line with Egypt's strategy, to achieve CO2 neutrality by 2050.
