QUension: Why do you replace the fence along the Hawkins Parkway with the Longview High School? It looks like two fences are installed. Why? Is there an idea of what the costs of this project will be?

ANSWER: This question is a combination of different inquiries that I received.

When I called the communication office at LISD, I was instructed to send my request to ask@lisd.org.

Here are the answers that I received when I tried to clarify and understand the project from a member of the communication and community relations office that did not identify when I asked who answered the e -mail address on my questions.

“With regard to the fences at the LongView High School: The work includes the exchange of aging and installation of additional obstacles to improve Campus security. The total cost of the project is approx. 1.2 million US dollars, financed by previously announced capital improvement. The project remains the schedule and the complete conformity with state security maintenance The procurement.

“The existing wire fence is removed. Only a new decorative steel fence is installed, not two. It runs the entire scope of the property. The completion is expected until late summer. The financing comes from the proceeds from 2024 bonds that are shown for the safety infrastructure.”

(Note that it was I used to use the expression “decorative fences” to distinguish between the wire fence near the street on the Hawkins Parkway on the rear school and the more attractive steel fence, which is also installed in this area.)
