The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) has announced its offering of gardening classes for this year, promising a “trendy twist.”
Course offerings are expected to include a mix of environmentally conscious practices with the latest gardening trends, as well as practical sessions aimed at empowering residents of all skill levels to create sustainable and stunning landscapes.
Workshop schedule 2025
Unless otherwise stated, all workshops take place on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Most sessions are held in person, with the first course of the year offered online. Space is limited and participants are asked to register early.
- January 25: Preparing for the Winter Garden: Pruning Tips and Techniques (Zoom Webinar)
- February 22: Part 1: Introduction to Landscape Design
- March 15: Part 2: Design Review Workshop
- April 12: DIY Drip Systems: An Efficient and Affordable Irrigation Solution
- May 17: Gardening 101: A Beginner's Guide to Container Gardening for California Residents
- June 28: Landscaping Your SCV Oasis: A Guide to Ideal Plant Selection
- September 13: Lawn Removal Techniques and California Lawn Alternatives
- October 11: Native Plant Power: Plants for a Thriving Ecosystem
In addition, a new workshop for children is planned for Wednesday, July 9th. The Children's Flower Pressing Workshop at the Sustainable Demonstration Garden in Bridgeport Park is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m
The workshops are interactive and offer educational experiences led by horticultural experts. Residents will gain hands-on insight into basic gardening techniques, including creating sustainable landscapes, selecting native plants and optimizing water use. Beyond practical knowledge, the sessions provide an opportunity to connect with other gardening enthusiasts, fostering a supportive community atmosphere.
Sessions will be held at SCV Water's Pine Street location at 23780 Pine Street or Bridgeport Park at 23521 Bridgeport Lane, depending on the course. Detailed schedules and locations are available online.
