A more sustainable, ecologically sounding landscape does not require a green thumb only a small guide and the willingness to take measures. This is the philosophy behind Tennessee Smart Yards, a program at the University of Tennessee led by Tennessee Extension, which enables homeowners to manage their outdoor areas in a way that benefits both humans and the environment.

Jennifer Montgomery
Jennifer Montgomery from Wallace Real Estate has taken this mission to heart. Montgomery, a passionate advocate of nature conservation and administration, helps its customers – and the broader community – to understand how the design from Hof can contribute to healthier houses, cleaner water and more lively communities.
“A Tennessee Smart Yard is not about perfection,” says Montgomery. “It is about progress. They make decisions that support nature and in the end create a room that is not only beautiful, but also advantageous.”
Montgomery even implemented a certified implementation Smart Yard The display in the Wallace Command, the local plants, the water design and educational signage present. Your hope is that others will inspire to see the opportunities in your own rooms, whether you have a balcony or a hectare.
The Smart YARDS program is based in nine basic principles from reducing the rainwater outflow to the effective use of mulch and compost and comprising a matter of course online modules and local workshops. Homeowners work through a scale workbook and earn centimeters for every sustainable action. As soon as you have reached 36 inches, you can officially certify your garden and receive a sign that can be viewed proudly.
Wallace Real Estate is proud to support this initiative. In a market in which the attractiveness and environmental awareness is more important than ever, a candidate and environmental awareness, Smart Yard Certification can even become a sales argument. “It is a great way to differentiate your property by putting on more butterflies and buyers,” explains Montgomery. “Buyers increasingly appreciate houses that match sustainable practices.”
Regardless of whether you sell your house or just create a more harmonious outdoor area, Tennessee Smart Yards Offers a way supported by science to the front and local supporters such as Montgomery make it easier than ever.
