STL removed fences that have built to stop the homeless warehouse

St. Louis – Barricades, who have been an integral part of City Parks in downtown St. Louis since 2023.

The obstacles rose in response to homeless camps that had arisen in the area, including the environment of the council house in Park. In October 2023, the town hall camp was built up after more months.

“Fences were built and remained in 2023 after the camp removed, while grass was rehabilitated. As mentioned in the past, this process was expected this spring, and we have now reached this point,” said Jared Boyd, chief of staff of the Mayor Tishaaura Jones, to Spectrum News in a statement on Friday.

The move comes just a few days before Jones departed and is replaced by Cara Spencer on Tuesday. In a short session with reporters on Thursday, Spencer said to bring the fences down, was at the top of our list, but would work with the service providers for homeless people.

The fences around the former building of the city court next door will remain, said Boyd. Barricades went to this property in May after someone who had been there at the homeless warehouse was shot nearby.

The building is being newly developed and is available.
