The surrounding landscape is more than just a backdrop for the brand new all-suite resort Tella Thera in northwestern Crete. It is an essential and viewed part of every guest experience. From partially underground suites with private pools to biomorphic architecture and decor, planted roof terraces, a holistic spa and a zero waste restaurant, family ownership brings a new kind of conscious hospitality to the Greek island.

With a name that results from Tellus, the old Roman goddess of the earth and the Greek words Therós (summer) and Therismós (harvest), Tella Thera is a new, nature-inspired boutique resort that is rooted in consciousness, connection and maintenance. The property was opened in mid -July in Kissamos Bay along the northwestern coast of Crete and was processed after days to promote relaxation and well -being, which explore some of the most remote and beautiful beaches, the swallows, mountains and cliffs of the island. Suites with biophilic constructions are partly underground with planted roof terraces that optimize energy efficiency and absorb carbon. Crauled, room -high windows oriented to north and width, biomorphic openings in rooms and corridors allow a wealth of natural light and air flow and reduce the need for artificial lighting and artificial ventilation. After consultations with Agis Papadopoulos, a professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the most suitable and sustainable materials were selected, including wood, stone and earth. Such materials are harmoniously combined with soft, earthy tones-in one, warm beige, olive green and soft shades of gray to create a calm and soothing, cave-like interior atmosphere.

While common areas offer the opportunity to interact, the 20 spacious suites – 17 of private diving baths – offer the signature villa ultimate private shortage that are inspired by the colors and mythology of the region. Each suite has at least 50 square meters of interior and 90 square meters of outside area with a unhindered panoramic view of the Aegean. Photographs by Georgios Anyfantakis, a well -known Cretan photographer, complement locally manufactured sculptural coffee tables and wooden tables. Everything, including 100% biodegradable bathroom facilities from Ocananis Cosmetics, was selected to support peace, presence and a deep feeling for the place.

On a 15,000 square meter plot of land, every convenience has its own building. The guests are welcomed in a reception lounge with a yoga and a meditation room outdoors and an underground spa. Tella Therma is located in Kissamos Bay in the northwest of Crete. It is an 8-minute drive from the center of Kissamos and 9 kilometers from Kolymbari. Kisamos is known for world -famous beaches such as Balos, Falassarna and Elafonissi, each offering crystal -clear turquoise water and untouched beauty. Rich in history, it was once a Roman city with archaeological sites, a local museum and hidden taverns. The region is celebrated for its olive oil, wine and authentic Cretan cuisine. Surrounded by gorges, valleys and mountains, it offers calm landscapes and scenic hiking as well as traditions craftsmanship, including ceramics, woven textiles and soulful music.
